Terms of Service

Effective date: February 10, 2026

This is a sample terms of service for product development and review — not legal advice. Have counsel review it before launch.

Agreement to Terms

These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of Matte products and services.

By creating an account, accessing, or using the service, you agree to these terms on behalf of yourself and, where applicable, the organization you represent.

Eligibility and Accounts

You must provide accurate account information and maintain the security of your credentials.

You are responsible for activity under your account and for ensuring authorized users comply with these terms.

  • Keep account credentials confidential and use strong authentication practices.
  • Promptly notify us of suspected unauthorized access.
  • Use the service only through authorized accounts and workflows.

Acceptable Use

You may use the service only in accordance with applicable laws and these terms.

You may not misuse the service, interfere with operations, or attempt unauthorized access.

  • No reverse engineering or attempts to bypass security controls.
  • No unlawful, fraudulent, or abusive behavior through the platform.
  • No disruption of service availability for other users.

Customer Data

You retain ownership of your data and content submitted to the service.

You grant Matte a limited license to host, process, and transmit data solely to provide, secure, and improve the service as instructed by your organization.

Subscriptions and Billing

Paid plans, if applicable, are billed under your selected subscription terms or order form.

Unless otherwise stated, fees are non-refundable and exclusive of taxes, which are your responsibility.

Intellectual Property

Matte and its licensors retain all rights in the service, including software, designs, documentation, and trademarks.

These terms grant you a limited, non-exclusive right to use the service during your active subscription.

Suspension and Termination

We may suspend or terminate access for material breaches, unlawful behavior, security risks, or non-payment.

You may stop using the service at any time. Upon termination, account access ends and data is handled according to your retention settings and applicable law.

Disclaimers

The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Except as expressly stated, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, neither party is liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.

Each party’s aggregate liability under these terms is limited to fees paid or payable for the service in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material updates will be communicated through reasonable notice channels.

Continued use of the service after the updated effective date constitutes acceptance of revised terms.
